- For the first time ever since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February this year, India voted against Russia on the Ukraine issue at United Nations Security Council. This during a procedural vote, as the 15-member powerful UN body invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to address a meeting through a video teleconference on Wednesday. However, the Ministry of External Affairs has now clarified that the vote was not against Russia but merely, to back Zelensky's participation in the UNSC meeting by video teleconference.
