Modi govt appoints Rajiv Kumar as next CEC; Will oversee 2024 polls

- The Centre has appointed Rajiv Kumar as the next Chief Election Commissioner. He will succeed current CEC Sushil Chandra who is set to leave the top post on May 14. Rajiv will assume office on May 15. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has put out a govt's notification on his Twitter account, informing about the appointment of Rajiv Kumar as new CEC.
