NCB's Sameer Wankhede reacts to removal from Aryan Khan drugs case

  • NCB has transferred the drugs-on-cruise case from the Mumbai team to their Delhi counterparts. The case also involves actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan, who was granted bail a week ago. Along with the Aryan Khan case, the probe agency has also transferred five other cases. The move came amid allegations of extortion against NCB Mumbai zone director Sameer Wankhede. Wankhede, however, said it was his writ petition that the matter be probed by a central team. The NCB Mumbai zone director added that he was not removed from the Aryan Khan case. NCB later confirmed that no officer or officers were removed from their present roles. It added that they would continue to assist their operations branch investigation as required. A team from Delhi NCB ops will now camp in Mumbai to take probe in the case forward. NCB had arrested Aryan, others in the drugs-on-cruise case on the intervening night of Oct 2-3. Meanwhile, Wankhede is facing a departmental vigilance probe following extortion charges. An independent witness in the case levelled an extortion attempt against NCB, its director.
