Former Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has refused to accept the 'Padma Bhushan' award. The communist veteran's refusal came shortly after the Union govt released the list of Padma awardees. The 'Padma Bhushan' civilian honour is awarded for distinguished service of high order. 77-year-old Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee served as Bengal chief minister from 2000-2011. A home ministry official said that a call was made yesterday morning, and ex-CM's wife was informed about the award. The communist veteran has been unwell for some time and has largely retracted himself from public appearances. Watch the full video for more.
