‘Pay in Roubles or…’: Putin sets gas payment deadline for European nations

- Amid war in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to cut off oil and gas supply to European countries. In a televised address, Putin demanded that foreign companies make the payment for its oil and gas supply in Russian currency Rouble. Putin's move is being seen as a tit for against U.S-led allies' stringent economic sanctions on Moscow. Europe is dependent on Russia for 1/3rd of its natural gas supply.
