Pilot detained on his way to Lakhimpur, says 'undemocratic steps won't deter us'

• Congress leader Sachin Pilot said he was detained while on his way to Lakhimpur Kheri. Pilot, accompanied with Acharya Pramod Krishnam, was allegedly detained in Moradabad. Pilot was en route to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet kin of farmers killed in the recent violence. “Moradabad Police & the administration didn't permit us to go to Lakhimpur. We are neither allowed to head towards Lakhimpur nor permitted to stay in Moradabad. Police said I will be taken back to U.P. border, no reason was specified. We were detained for quite a few hours. We were stopped at Moradabad highway,” he said. Earlier, Pilot took to Twitter & lashed out at the Yogi Adityanath govt over his detention. The Congress leader landed in Delhi on Wednesday & set out for Lakhimpur by road straight from airport. Pilot was stopped near Ghaziabad's Gaur City but then permitted to proceed towards Hapur. SSP Pawan Kumar said Ghaziabad Police has no plans to intercept Pilot's motorcade.
