- The UK government has declared that Rishi Sunak is committed to free trade with India. "Intensive negotiations are being done to finalise the deal," says Downing Street. Big pro-India statement by the Rishi Sunak government just after taking charge. In his first phone call after taking charge as PM last week, Rishi Sunak referenced "good progress" being made to finalise the free trade deal. Modi and Sunak are expected to meet in person at the G20 summit in Indonesia later this month, unless they meet at the COP27 summit in Egypt. The FTA negotiations are centred around reducing the barriers to trade, cutting tariffs, and supporting easier imports and exports into each other's markets. Watch this report for more.
