Ruckus over NCT bill in Rajya Sabha: Congress, AAP target Modi govt

• There was massive ruckus in the Rajya Sabha over the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Congress and the AAP fired at the Modi government and accused it of trying to rule Delhi through the back by empowering the L-G. Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge said that the elections would be futile if this amendment was passed and also added that the bill be sent to the select committee for consideration. AAP MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the bill was being since the BJP lost two back to back elections in Delhi and was a bid to subvert the mandate given to the Aam Aadmi Party. MoS, Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy however said that they are only making amendments to act brought by the Congress in 1991 and added that this will ensure smooth governance in the capital.
