- A massive controversy is brewing in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Parents of students at Florets International School in Kanpur have complained to police that their children were being forced to recite 'Kalma' during morning prayer. Nishank Sharma, ACP, Kanpur, said that the District Magistrate and local police have been notified and that a team of police visited the school to investigate the matter today. Police have asked the school authorities to stop the practice of reciting Islamic verses. The school principal said that there are prayers from all religions - Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Christianity. "As parents objected to Islamic prayer, we have stopped it and only national anthem is being sung during morning prayers," she said. Watch this video for more details.
