‘Uddhav Thackeray had asked me to reinstate Vaze when I was CM’: Fadnavis

- Former Maharashtra Chief Minister has leveled grave charges against incumbent CM Uddhav Thackeray. Fadnavis alleged that when he was Chief Minister, there was pressure from the Shiv Sena to reinstate Sachin Vaze. He alleged that Uddhav Thackeray had called him and some Sena leaders had visited him. Fadnavis said that while he decided not to reinstate Vaze after consultation with Advocate General, Shiv Sena reinstated him in March 2020 citing shortage of policemen due to the pandemic. Fadnavis said that a probe should be conducted on those who were behind Vaze. The controversial cop had been arrested by the NIA in connection with an explosives-filled SUV found near Mukesh Ambani's home Antilia in Mumbai. The abandoned SUV was traced to one Mansukh Hiran, who had reported it stolen on February 17. Waze's role came under scrutiny after Hiran was found dead in a creek near Mumbai on March 5.
