Watch: IIT Kanpur develops unmanned drone-helicopter

- IIT Kanpur Aeronautics department developed an unmanned drone-helicopter. The institute developed the drone-helicopter in collaboration with a startup EndureAir. This drone-helicopter can be used for long-endurance surveillance, vaccine distribution. With the capacity to carry weight up to 5 kgs, it can cover a distance of 50 kms. Aerospace engineering professor, Abhishek said, “It operates on petrol and can go working for straight 3 to 4 hours. It is meant for long-endurance surveillance, and can also be used for vaccine distribution.” The drone-helicopter gets its location using Global Positioning System (GPS). The drone-helicopter can fly up to 11,500 feet, long range trails are to be held soon.
