Will curb cross border crimes...': BSF on more powers amid states' objections

Amid row over its extended territorial jurisdiction, Border Security Force tried to reassure states of Punjab and West Bengal that the additional powers won't minimise the role of local police. The BSF said that the idea is basically to curb all trans-border crimes and the jurisdiction has been only increased for CrPC Act, Passport (Entry into India) Act, Passport Act. The BSF said that the new powers will strengthen local police even as jurisdiction for NDPS Act, Arms Act, Custom Acts remain unchanged. Watch this report for more.
