More than twenty years ago, a 30-something Australian Peter Dietze found an old black and white photograph in his attic. It was of an Indian man. He asked his mother who the man was. He was told it was his grandfather Himanshu Rai, the pioneering founder of Bombay Talkies and a legend of the early years of Hindi cinema.
