Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russian leader Vladimir Putin of trying to frame the upcoming Alaska meeting with Donald Trump as a “personal victory,” while having no real intent to agree to a ceasefire. Speaking ahead of the high-profile summit, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine’s sovereignty must be respected and warned that any talks on ending the war must include Kyiv as an active participant. “The war against Ukraine should be resolved only with Ukraine’s participation,” he declared. The remarks highlight growing concern in Kyiv that side-line deals between Washington and Moscow could bypass Ukraine’s interests. Putin and Trump are scheduled to meet this Friday in Alaska for what is being billed as a critical moment in the ongoing conflict.
