Planes collide midair in California while trying to land at local airport

Two planes collided in Northern California while trying to land at a local airport. The planes crashed at Watsonville Municipal Airport; Multiple fatalities reported. The pilots were on their final approaches to the airport before the collision. A witness said the planes were about 200 feet in the air when they crashed. A twin-engine Cessna 340 and a single-engine Cessna 152 involved in the crash. The airport doesn't have a control tower to direct aircraft landing & taking off. The airport has four runways & is home to more than 300 aircraft, as per the website. 55,000+ operations/year, airport often used for recreational planes & agri businesses. U.S aviation body F.A.A & National Transportation Safety Board are probing the matter. Watsonville, near the Monterey bay, is about 100 miles (160 km) south of San Francisco. Two other pilots also were hurt in aircraft crashes elsewhere in California.
