Poland Buckles Under Balloon Pressure, Tusk Makes Shock Belarus Move After ‘Airspace Intrusion’
Published on Oct 29, 2025 06:35 pm IST
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed escalating tensions on the Lithuanian–Belarusian and Lithuanian–Russian borders, citing repeated “provocations” such as balloon incursions from Belarus and Russia. Lithuania’s decision to close its only crossing with Belarus has prompted urgent consultations between Warsaw and Vilnius to maintain coordinated border policy. Tusk confirmed plans to reopen two Polish crossings with Belarus in November on a trial basis but warned that if security concerns arise, Poland will not hesitate to close them again. The move reflects growing regional coordination amid rising hybrid threats and tensions along NATO’s eastern frontier.
