Scared US’ Arab ally defies Trump? Refuses to abandon Hormuz negotiations with Mojtaba's camp

Oman is reportedly resisting U.S. pressure to scale back contacts with Iran, maintaining that ongoing discussions are focused on the future governance and security of the Strait of Hormuz under international maritime law. Muscat has rejected suggestions that it supports Iranian efforts to restrict navigation, reaffirming its commitment to free passage through the vital waterway. The dispute intensified after U.S. officials questioned Oman’s role in Hormuz diplomacy and accused it of being sympathetic to Tehran’s position. Meanwhile, Iran has proposed new maritime management mechanisms for the strait, while Washington remains concerned about any measures resembling transit fees or tolls.
