After vowing to “obliterate” Iran’s power grid, Donald Trump suddenly tried to cast himself as co‑manager of the world’s most explosive chokepoint. In a bizarre riff, he said the reopened Strait of Hormuz would be “jointly controlled” — “maybe me, maybe me… me and the Ayatollah, whoever the next Ayatollah is” — while claiming secret talks run by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner aimed at a “complete and total resolution” of hostilities. Tehran, which had threatened Gulf power plants and the UAE’s Barakah nuclear station, publicly denied any contact and insisted Washington had simply blinked.
