What Bangladesh Wants From India After Sheikh Hasina’s Exit: Khaleda Zia’s Close Aide Explains

Sheikh Hasina's 15-year long rule in Bangladesh is now over. The former Prime Minister has been forced to leave the country and take temporary refuge in neighbouring India. An interim govt headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus will be taking charge of the strife-torn nation soon. However, there are apprehensions that Sheikh Hasina’s ouster clears the way for the return of radicals in the country. Minorities, in particular, fear for their security amid reports of their religious sites being targeted by protesters. So were the protests instigated by any foreign power? Will minorities be safe in the country? How will Bangladesh deal with neighbouring India? Khaleda Zia’s close aide Rumeen Farhana speaks to Hindustan Times’ Kumkum Chadha on all the burning issues in post-Hasina Bangladesh.
