Surgeons in Australia on Friday successfully separated conjoined twins from Bhutan. The delicate operation lasted almost six hours at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital. Nima and Dawa were joined from the lower chest to just above the pelvis. The 15-month-old girls also shared a liver. An operating team of 18 members were involved in the procedure. The head of pediatric surgery, Dr Crameri said the major challenge was to reconstruct the twins' abdomens. A team of surgeons, nurses and anaesthetists were involved in the procedure.
