Paris shops reopen, streets cleaned up after yellow vest protests
Updated on Dec 09, 2018 06:29 pm IST
Paris monuments were reopening, clean-up crews were out on the streets and shop owners were trying to put the city on its feet again on Sunday, the morning after protests and clashes injured 71 people and caused widespread damage. Ahead of the protests, stores along the elegant Champs-Elysees Avenue and the posh Avenue Montaigne boarded up their windows as if bracing for a hurricane. Although Saturday's protest in the French capital started out quietly, the storm struck anyway Saturday, this time at the height of the holiday shopping season. Protesters ripped off the plywood protecting the windows and threw flares and other projectiles.
