A major Japanese shipping firm suspended Red Sea operations amid a deteriorating security situation in the crucial middle eastern waterway. Japan's Nippon Yusen (NYK Line), the country's biggest shipper by sales, instructed its vessels navigating near the Red Sea to wait in safe waters and is considering route changes. The NYK Line told AFP that the decision was taken to “ensure the safety of crews." Two other major Japanese shipping firms are Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
