Iran has allegedly launched two explosive-laden drones at key targets in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, including the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the head of the Parastin security and intelligence agency. Kurdish authorities identified the drones as Hadid-110 attack UAVs and said no casualties were reported. Barzani condemned the strikes as “reckless and unacceptable,” calling them a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to regional security. Tehran has yet to comment on the allegations. Why is Iran targeting Iraqi Kurdistan, and could the latest strikes deepen tensions between Tehran and Kurdish authorities?
