Pedro Sanchez, Spain's Prime Minister, has been championing the fight for Palestinians. Sanchez said recognising a Palestinian state is "in Europe's geopolitical interest." The Spanish PM has been lobbying to garner support for the recognition amid a raging war in Gaza. Addressing Spain's parliament, Pedro Sanchez also came down heavily on Israel. He warned that Israel's "disproportionate response" to Hamas' October 7 attacks "threatens to destabilise the Middle East and, as a consequence, the entire world."
