As the Russian troop build-up around the borders of Ukraine continues, India said it is following the developments closely and called for peaceful resolution of the situation. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said there should be a peaceful resolution to the situation through sustained diplomatic efforts. Russia has demanded that there should be no presence of NATO forces in Ukraine. Moscow, which shares friendly and very close ties with India, has denied that it is planning to invade Ukraine.
