Obama: ‘We will destroy’ Islamic State group
Updated on Nov 23, 2015 01:47 pm IST
President Barack Obama reiterated his determination to defeat Islamic State terrorists. He also called on Russia to focus its airstrike campaign in Syria on IS, rather than targeting opposition forces fighting Syrian President Bashar Assad. He reiterated that a solution to the Syrian conflict should be achieved through political transition and insisted that Assad can not remain in power as it would perpetuate the civil war.
Obama added he was optimistic the nations participating in the forthcoming Climate Conference in the French capital, Paris, will reach a “strong deal” on tackling climate change around the world.
