Fearing international pressure, Pakistan's General attorney Mallick Qayyum announced on Saturday that Pakistan's emergency would be lifted within a month after which fresh elections will be held. The announcement came in the wake of severe criticism of General Musharraf's decision to impose emergency from all quarters of the world. Meanwhile, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto has also been released from her house arrest.
