Protest against removal of priests in Nepal
Updated on Jan 05, 2009 07:36 pm IST
Protests are spreading in northern India over a ban on Indian priests at a famous Hindu temple in Nepal. Activists of radical Hindu outfit Bajrang Dal staged a protest in Agra on Sunday and burnt an effigy symbolising the Maoist government in Nepal. The trust that runs the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu sacked the Indian priests on December 28 last year. The protesters demanded that the priests be reinstated, saying the sacking was an insult to Hindus.
