Australia's Canberra sparkles as it wins world record status for the most lights on artificial Christmas tree. The 22-metre tree was clad in 518, 838 lights to smash the previous record.

Organiser David Richards says it's a Christmas dream come true.Richards organised the event to raise money for a sudden infant death syndrome charity after losing one of his own children.

He's snatched the record from Universal Studios Japan whose 33-metre tree set the benchmark earlier in November with nearly 150, 000 less lights.
