Updated on Nov 13, 2014 02:01 pm IST
The European Space Agency successfully landed a spacecraft on the surface of a comet. Thte craft is about the size of a washing machine and took ten years just to line up with the comet and match its speed. Early reports say the lander may hae bounced once before coming to rest but scientists say most of the instruments are working fine and it's already sending back data. Scientists also believe comets may hold the key to life on earth and such a feat could answer questions about the origins of the solar system.
