An Indian-origin man named Jaynesh Chudasama has been arrested and charged by Scotland Yard after he ploughed his car into three teenagers who were walking to a birthday party on Friday, killing them.
Police said a 34-year-old man, suspected to be a passenger in Chudasama’s car, had voluntarily handed himself in and had been arrested in connection with the incident in Hayes. Chudasama was charged with three counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
Chudasama, a 28-year-old from west London, was scheduled to appear in custody at Uxbridge magistrates court on Monday.
Police named the victims as Harry Louis Rice, 17, and 16-year-olds George Toby Wilkinson and Josh McGunniess.
Many flowers and cards with condolence messages have been left at the spot where the incident occurred.
Chief superintendent Colin Wingrove of the Hillingdon Borough Police said: "There is understandably a lot of shock and grief in the local community. I would like to reiterate the appeal from the families that their privacy is respected at this difficult time so they can grieve in peace."
