Iran Protests highlights- Amid raging protests in Iran, United States President Donald Trump asked the demonstrators on Tuesday to keep the agitation going and said that “help is on its way”. Through a post on TruthSocial, Trump called for protestors in Iran to “take over institutions” and said that their “killers and abusers” will “pay a big price”....Read More
“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING - TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!!,” he wrote, in his signature all-caps style.
This comes after Tehran said on Monday it was keeping communication channels with Washington open while Trump considered how to respond to Iran's deadly crackdown on nationwide protests, one of its gravest tests since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Protests that began more than two weeks ago over economic grievances in Iran have snowballed into one of the most serious challenges to the country's theocratic system, led by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, since the 1979 Islamic Revolution that toppled the Shah.

-Trump threat: Adding to threats of military action, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned that Iran “will pay a big price” for the “senseless killing of protestors.” Trump urged protestors in Iran to take over the country's institutions, while saying that “help is on its way.” Trump further said he had cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials till the killings stop.
-Iran says 'ready for war': Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said on Monday the Islamic republic is ready for war and talks as well after repeated threats from US President Donald Trump to step in militarily over a crackdown on protests that activists fear has killed hundreds.
-Iran protest deaths: US-based rights group HRANA said by late Monday it had verified the deaths of 646 people, including 505 protesters, 113 military and security personnel and seven bystanders, and was investigating 579 more reported deaths. Since the protests began on December 28, 10,721 people have been arrested, according to the group. An Iranian official later told Reuters that about 2,000 people were killed during the stir, blaming “terrorists” for the deaths.
-Internet blackout: Amid protests, the authorities have imposed an internet blackout that has now lasted more than three-and-a-half days and that, according to activists, is aimed at masking the extent of the deadly crackdown.
-EU sanctions warning - European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen said EU had listed “isted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in its entirety under its human rights sanctions regime” amid crackdown on protestors in the country. Von Der Leyen warned of further sanctions on “those responsible for the repression”. Meanwhile, Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran does not “seek enmity” with the EU, “but will reciprocate any restriction" placed on it.
