A New York Police Department (NYPD) executive, while addressing the media, said, 'There is zero tolerance for these senseless shootings. It is a horrible act of violence on our streets, and those responsible for this crime will be apprehended and brought to justice... On January 1, at approximately 11:18, the NYPD received multiple calls reporting several people shot here.”

He said that the initial investigation revealed approximately 90 people were inside the venue, with a queue of 15 people outside waiting for others to exit.
“Three to four men opened fire more than thirty times in the direction of a group standing outside the venue, striking multiple victims. Officers responding to the 911 calls found a total of ten victims, including six males and four females, who were taken to area hospitals. All victims are expected to recover with non-life-threatening injuries,” the executive added.
The incident coincided with a deadly attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day, where 15 were killed and more than 30 injured when a vehicle rammed into a crowd.

Police exchanged gunfire with the suspect, 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, who was fatally shot during the confrontation, sources told the New York Times.
