When will southbound I-15 near Bangerter Highway reopen? Details amid ‘police incident’

Police incident near Interstate 15 in Draper closed several southbound lanes, causing major traffic delays for hours, till at least 7pm, officials said.

A police incident on the Interstate 15 in Draper, Salt Lake County, Utah, on Tuesday led to massive traffic closures. The police response is underway at Bangerter Highway off the I-15, the Utah Police Department confirmed.

Utah Highway Patrol said that several lanes on the Southbound I-15 are closed, causing massive delays. In an update on X, the department said that drivers should expect "full or partial" delays "for several hours."

“Avoid the area and find an alternative route,” the update read. It is unclear what prompted the police incident on I-15.

What Happened On I-15 In Utah Today?

The individual was shot after the traffic shot led to two shots being fired, in one of which the individual was hit. The victim was transported to a local hospital via a medical helicopter, the report added.

Between 4:30pm and 6pm, traffic on the southbound I-15 was diverted onto the Bangerter exit and returning onto I-15 at 14600 South, the report noted. Some of the southbound lanes were opened at 6pm though most still remains closed.
