Eleven people were shot dead in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero on Sunday, local officials said on Tuesday.
The seven men and four women were passengers in a van traveling in sourthern Pacific state, home to the popular tourist resort of Acapulco. Two other passengers were injured.

In a statement on Tuesday the local security ministry said that theattackers had used “high caliber firearms.”
