The man, identified as Qamar Ejaz, is the brother of Adnan Ejaz, a former major in the Pakistani army who is in custody for his alleged links with Faisal Shahzad, the prime suspect in the plot, the intelligence source said, requesting anonymity.

However, it was not immediately clear how Ejaz is linked to Faisal Shahzad or the Times Square bombing plot.

Shahzad, a naturalised US citizen of Pakistani origin, was arrested at the John F. Kennedy International Airport while trying to board a flight to Dubai on May 3, two days after he had planted an explosive-laden vehicle in Times Square that failed to explode.

The incident had prompted US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to warn Islamabad of "severe consequences" if any more terrorist attacks on the US were found to have been sourced from Pakistan.
