Sixteen miners in China remained trapped in a flooded coal mine on Thursday night, authorities said.
The accident took place at 6pm on Wednesday when they were working underground in Qielichong coal mine in Hunan province, Xinhua reported.

Twenty-four others managed to escape. The coal mine management reported the accident to the local government Thursday. Rescue efforts were continuing at 10.30 pm on Thursday.
