“Till now 23 bodies have been recovered from under the debris at Jure, the village which was completely affected by the landslide. Thirteen bodies were recovered on Monday morning with help of excavators,” said senior district police official Bharat Bohra.
Authorities say that though they have managed to identify 166 people as missing till now, the figure could go up once more information on the damage caused is available.
“Seven small hydro-power plants with total installed capacity of 65 MW have been affected due to the landslide and there is no generation,” Bohra added.
The massive landslide that blocked Sunkoshi River and created an artificial lake spread over four kilometers had buried 52 houses early on Saturday morning and displaced nearly 5,000 people.

A small hydro-power project was also submerged by the large reservoir created by the landslide. On Saturday Nepali Army had conducted two controlled blasts to let the water flow.

But since the water flow in the river has not become normal and there is still a huge amount of water in the artificial lake there is danger of large scale flooding if the blockade gets removed suddenly.
Officials at the site are thinking of ways to ensure normal flow of the water. If there is sudden outlet of water it would affect five districts downstream and also parts of northern Bihar.
On Sunday two officials from Bihar avisited the landslide site and accessed the situation.
