At least 260 Tibetan protesters, including women, were arrested today near the Chinese embassy in the Nepalese capital as they staged anti-Beijing demonstrations demanding independence for their Himalayan homeland.

The arrested protesters included 118 women, police said. Some of the demonstrators also sustained injuries when they clashed with police, who tried to disperse them.
