About 300 Indian workers, hired by a Kuwait contracting company, have alleged that have not been given any job since their arrival in the country four months ago and demanded stern action against unscrupulous agents who allegedly duped them.
The Indian workers, who were recruited to work for an oil company, claimed that they have not been issued passes to enter oil installations and that the visas of many workers have expired.
"We briefed the officials of the company on the problems facing us but nothing has been done so far to address our plight, as patience among the workers is running thin," one worker was quoted as saying in the Arab Times.
According to the workers, some of their colleagues working for other projects have not received salaries for over four months and that they were living in abominable conditions.
The workers, who hail from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Punjab, have signed up as drivers, technicians, electricians and a majority of them were recruited on visit visas.
Last month, over 500 expat workers went on strike over non-payment of salaries while police arrested five workers for inciting the strike. They were later released.

{{/usCountry}}The workers have requested the embassy to look into their grievances claiming that they were duped by unscrupulous recruitment agents back home and called on the authorities concerned to take tough action against them.
"The government should close down these recruiting agencies as they are swindling unsuspecting workers to the tune of thousands of rupees under the pretext of providing lucrative jobs," the worker said.
