Four Chinese nationals have been detained in Nepal for illegally possessing a rare mountain species 'Yarchagumba', widely used as natural Viagra.

Four Chinese nationals have been detained in Nepal for illegally possessing a rare mountain species 'Yarchagumba', widely used as natural Viagra.

Security personnel of Langtang National Park in Nepal's Rasuwa district detained Kijiyang Hyang (38), Kijiya Daji (34), Enjen Gyangbo (18) and Chhamba (23) who arrived there on a vehicle with Chinese number plate, the park officials said.

Authorities have recovered 586 pieces of Yarchagumba, popularly known as 'Caterpillar Fungus' because the fungus grows on the body of insects after killing it.

There is high demand for Yarchagumba in the Chinese market.

Those detained were being interrogated in connection with the case, park officials said.

As per Nepalese law permission is required for trading the medicinal fungus.
