8 dead, 3 injured in Argentina fire

The fire spread from a coal-burning stove and triggered an explosion in two gas tanks killing and injuring people in the central Argentina province of Cordoba.

Eight people were killed and three injured in Villa Valeria in the central Argentina province of Cordoba, when a coach that was home to the victims caught fire, official sources said.

The victims included a 22-year-old woman, two adolescent mothers who aged 13 and 14, their children three years and 10 months old, and three other children aged two, six and eight.

The fire spread from a coal-burning stove and triggered an explosion in two gas tanks. Another young woman suffered 70 percent burns in her body, and two more children survived the fire with serious injuries.

All the victims came from a family from Villa Mercedes, in San Luis Province, to work as farm labourers and bricklayers in Villa Valeria.
