Afghan opposition says wins more than 90 parliament seats

Afghanistan's emerging opposition leader Abdullah Abdullah said on Wednesday that more than 90 of his supporters had won seats in parliament, following the announcement of certified results.

Afghanistan's emerging opposition leader Abdullah Abdullah said on Wednesday that more than 90 of his supporters had won seats in parliament, following the announcement of certified results.

The politician said a "significant number" of loyal MPs will allow him to pressure President Hamid Karzai as political opposition group.

"A significant number of our candidates made it through, more than 90," he told reporters.

"We, as the opposition, will actively start our work in the next two weeks.

"We will put pressure on the government inside parliament and outside parliament to bring reforms, positive changes, and to implement and strengthen the rule of law," he added.
