Sri Lankan police on Wednesday found a powerful Claymore mine abandoned along the beach in capital Colombo.

The 10-kg bomb was found at Wellawatte, which is also known as little Jaffna because of the heavy concentration of ethnic minority Tamils in the area.

Wednesday's discovery was similar to the bomb found five days ago near a police station in the centre of the commercial area.

On Tuesday, a powerful blast slightly damaged a power pylon, but did not disrupt electricity supplies.
