Islamist militants have carried out a series of bomb attacks across Pakistan in recent weeks in retaliation for a military offensive in the northwest but there have been no such attacks in this region.

"According to initial reports the explosion took place in the barracks behind a school run by the army," said one of the military officials in the region.
