Two people are dead and three are injured. Police Major General Sayan Krasesaen said one of the explosives, triggered by a mobile telephone, blew up near to where Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was due to open a road later in the day.

More than 3,700 people have been killed since an Islamist insurgency flared in January 2004 in the southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, the only Muslim-majority areas in the predominantly Buddhist country.
