The bomb went off near the offices at Jalozai refugee camp close to the city of Peshawar, which is home to tribesmen fleeing unrest in the Khyber, Bajaur and Mohmand tribal districts.

District police chief Mohammad Hussain gave the casualty figures.

"The casualties might rise as it was a huge blast," he said.

It was unclear how the bomb was detonated, he said. Several vehicles were also damaged.

Jalozai, an enormous camp that once hosted Afghan refugees, now houses Pakistanis from the northwestern tribal districts bordering Afghanistan, a stronghold of Taliban and other militants.
