As part of the revised version of the prayer book, the bride in Church of England weddings is asked to take one of two vows:

First version: '(Wilt) thou have this man to thy wedded husband, to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of Matrimony? Wilt thou obey him, and serve him, love, honour, and keep him in sickness and in health...

Second version: '(Wilt) thou have this man to thy wedded husband, to live together according to God's law in the holy estate of Matrimony? Wilt thou love him, comfort him, honour and keep him, in sickness and in health...

Kate has chosen the second version that does not include the word 'obey', according to details released on Thursday.

They added: “The affection shown to us by so many people has been incredibly moving, and has touched us both deeply. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone most sincerely for their kindness.”
