British Queen’s knickers sold for 11,000 pounds on eBay

A pair of silk knickers belonging to Queen Elizabeth II of Britain has fetched a whopping 11,390 pounds at an auction on eBay, according to a media report.

A pair of silk knickers belonging to Queen Elizabeth II of Britain has fetched a whopping 11,390 pounds at an auction on eBay, according to a media report.

The decades-old knickers, which were put up for sale on the online auction site earlier this month, has attracted 18 separate bids and eventually sold for 11,390 pounds (more than Rs 1 million), the Daily Telegraph reported.The selling price is said to be about 2,000 pounds more than a pair of Queen Victoria’s bloomers which were sold at auction last year, the paper said.

The vintage garments, embroidered with the letter E that may stand for Elizabeth and a picture of a crown, was sold by the estate of Baron Joseph ‘Sepy’ de Bicske Dobronyi.

Dobronyi was described as an aristocrat, art collector, traveller and Playboy, by the newspaper report.

They were then picked up by the pilot and given to his friend, Hungarian-born Dobronyi.
