The British foreign ministry has issued a strong warning over how to behave in Muslim countries, telling Britons in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)an increasingly popular holiday destination not to have sex outside marriage or kiss in public.

The advice, which goes further than the traditional admonition for women to dress modestly, follows allegations of drunken sex romps, the Guardian reported.

Warnings about modesty are also given to those planning to visit the Kenya coast and rural areas of Malaysia.

"The Foreign Office is worried that increasing numbers of tourists will get into trouble abroad as they the travel to less traditional holiday destinations and fall foul of local laws and customs," the paper said.

The advice follows the deportation of a British man and woman from the UAE this week after the two had been found having sex on a beach. They had met hours earlier at a champagne reception.

The paper said more and more Britons are holidaying outside Europe, with those vacationing in Egypt this year rising by 38 percent and Turkey by 32 percent over 2007. Similar rises are expected next year.
